Coming back
to the problem, Connelly asked a few rhetorical questions. “So what do Mormon and Mexico have in common? And why would
Jarvis want LDS people doing the survey?”
“I’m not much into conspiracies, so let me give you a practical answer.
All of these guys went on missions for two years in South America. They were all very fluent in the language. It could
be that simple. I don’t want to sound defensive, but I don’t think they could be apart of something devious.”
“These
are just ideas, not conclusions. I think Jarvis has many pawns, just like us.”

The Doctrine:
Their doctrine is found in
two sources: Their scripture and the printed word from their leadership. The LDS have a larger cannon of scriptures than other
Christian religions. Their Holy books are: The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of
Great Price. These scriptures are now online (LDS.org) and easily searched. Here is what I found.
The
reckoning of God's time, angel's time, prophet's time, and man's time, is according to the planet on which
they reside. (Doctrine and Covenants, 130:4.)
And were it possible that man could number the partials of
the earth, yea, millions of earths like this, it would not be a beginning to the number of thy creations. (Pearl of Great
Price: Moses 7:30)
This would seem to suggest that they have fundamental acceptance that other people reside on other
planets. More…
There are many
worlds that have passed away.... And there are many that now stand ... " (Pearl of Great Price: Moses 1:35)
The worlds are and were created and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters
unto God (Doctrine and Covenants, 76:24).
Worlds without number have I created. (Pearl of Great Price:
Moses 1:33)
To follow on that thought a few words from their leadership.
"We are not the only people that
the Lord has created. We have brothers and sisters on other earths. They look like us because they, too, are the children
of God and were created in his image.” (Doctrines of Salvation: 1:62).
"We do not know how many inhabited worlds there are,
or where they are. But certainly we are not alone." (A Wonderful Flood of Light p.25, Neal A. Maxwell.)
In the category of people of
influence:
Orson Scott Card, Award wining Science Fiction writer said, "Mormons are
theologically not so far removed from science fiction. We literally believe that God has created sentient beings on other
worlds, that there really is faster-than-light travel and that God can go hither and yon. In many cases, we are writing about
a universe we have already thought about from childhood on." (Publishers Weekly, 4/16/01)
So the question still remains. Why go
to the effort of engineering society, even if it is a test case?” He wrote, Why Mormons? on the whiteboard
with a large question mark. Silence once again filled the room.

“But why push
society to Mormonism. What does Jarvis or the US for that matter gain from doing this? It doesn’t make sense,”
Geoff said.
“We might not know why they are doing this, but we should be able to say whether or not we think it is right,”
Jose said with conviction. “Connelly and I discovered something in Mexico that I didn’t tell you.” Connelly
looked at Jose with a mild confused expression. “When I looked at the list of survey respondents, I discovered that
my uncle had been surveyed three times in the last two years. I called him this morning to ask him about it. The last time
he was surveyed, a young American man asked him many questions about his religion. Several days later two Mormon missionaries
came to his house and started to teach him their gospel. Right now my uncle is thinking about joining the Mormon Church. Was
it fate or fabrication that lead the missionaries to my uncle’s house? Even if the message of the Mormons is true and
good, should it be supported by devious men, who destroy others to further their agenda?”
Geoff replied quickly, “No,
this is absolutely wrong. In effect, they are creating a state sponsored religion. Regardless of the reasons, the freedom
of the Mexican people is being taken away. And I fear that the same thing will happen here in the US if we don’t do
something about it.”
“Furthermore,” Geoff continued, “are we missing something? Does the current presidential
race fit into this plan? You are all aware that the leading candidate is a Mormon?”

“What I’m doing is preparing society for the
most shocking, terrible, event to ever occur. And when it does, if we are not prepared, if we haven’t taken measures
to survive, everything will be threatened, our way of life, the economy, and the government all could destabilized if we don’t
take action now.” Jarvis said.
“Jose and Geoff think that we should let the people decide what they want to do.”
“What would
you do if you could save millions of people? What would you be willing to do for your country? If we don’t prepare people
for the unthinkable, then anarchy will reign. That means people will die. Panic will lead to madness and madness to violence.
You know this to be true. And Jose and Geoff know it too. In this very building you can find the Declaration
of Independence, the Bill of right and the Constitution. These are the emblems and symbols of our freedom. And
what will happen to freedoms in the day of the final encounter. You think we have had a constitutional crisis in the past?
Do aliens have rights?
Do non-human sentient
beings have inalienable rights?
This is just one crisis that will occur. What if you could solve the problem before
it becomes a problem and thus save lives.
So what should we do? Go out and tell the public that
life on other planets exists--and by the way, they are coming to take ownership of the world and enslave you. Wouldn’t
that be coercion, wouldn’t that cause panic and chaos?”
“Is the alliance solid? Is
war inevitable?” Connelly asked with real trepidation in his voice.
“The Conae are still thinking about our proposal.
They believe that the Clast will attack the Earth at some point. We have placed a great deal of trust in the Conae. Our best
guess is that the Event Horizon will occur in less than a decade. But no one really knows.”
The plan was working.
Connelly had become a reluctant ally. Jarvis had divulged something that they didn’t know. Connelly continued to pursue
the line of dialogue.
“In ten years, how can you
push society in the right direction?”
“We’re lucky that the Conae were not similar to some obscure religion in Africa
or the Caribbean. Our work would have been monumental. Their society seems to be where we would have ended up, just much later.
Now it’s all about compressing the time frame.”
“How can you build consensuses among so many belief systems?”
“Have you thought
out the impact upon traditional religion when human life on other planets is confirmed? Islam will be lost without any guidance
to interpret these events, while Christianity will debate endlessly about how this news affects the origin of life, the nature
of the Godhead and the need for the atonement. When they arrived and the truth will no longer be denied, the only stable institution
in our society will be the LDS Church. They will move swiftly to embrace the Conae. It’s a simple equation: The more
important the LDS, the more stable our society will be. This is fate, not fabrication. We are just accelerating the inevitable.”
“What do you
mean the inevitable?”
“A Yale Professor, Harold Bloom and a reporter for the New Yorker made an astute observation. ‘There
will come a time with Mormons are so numerous and so wealthy that governing our democracy will become impossible without Mormon
cooperation.’ Even now this is becoming a reality, with only 1.8 of the US population being Mormon, there is already
a disproportionate amount of Mormons representation in the Government. Five out of the one hundred United States Senators
are LDS. The presidential election will help this trend along. The Mormons are doing a good job. But I don’t have time
for people to come to their senses. I have ten years, maybe more, to prepares the US and save lives.”
“How do you
aid in spreading a particular theology?”
“We have a saying. If you can keep Larry King married to a Mormon you can do anything.”
Jarvis waited for a response from Connelly but recognition of humor was now gone. “We don’t direct the church
in a particular way. After all, they have sixty thousand missionaries around the world in almost every country spreading the
gospel. Their numbers grow exponentially without our help. They do the hard work with sincere convention.
Our influence is, well, influence.”
“So Project Montezuma is operating in the US?”
“Yes. Mexico is our laboratory
to refine our techniques.”
From memory Connelly recalled the objectives of Project Montezuma. “So how did you infuse Mormon
values into the culture and into the entertainment industry?”
“You have to start out small- we are not infusing Mormon values
into anything. Instead we are creating an atmosphere for conservative values to become prominent. How else can you explain
the rise of Newt Gingrich, the dominance of the Republican Party and the success of Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, Dr. Laura,
and Glenn Beck? We promote an agenda that will help LDS values grow and thrive. When Utah wanted the Winter Olympics, we thought
it would be a good venue to showcase the church, so we helped out. We are there to make sure that Mormons in sports and entertainment
get noticed. Did you know that there more LDS fiction writer than in any other religion? This is not an
accident. We have also made it possible for Mormon filmmakers to introduce their films and message into
the mainstream. One of our watershed achievements was promoting the Da Vinci Code, which erodes belief in Catholicism, while aligning people’s
belief systems to embrace the Mormon doctrine on the nature of the Godhead. We also had Battlestar Galactica,
on television in nineteen seventy-eight and back on in 2005. That program was extrapolated from Mormon doctrine. We do many
things like this. Also, when possible we sponsor movies that portray aliens in a good light.”
“But most movies show Aliens
as little gray men. The Clast are not human, are they?
“No, they are what you call the Grays. But the goal of these films is to solidify the
idea that life on other planets is plausible. Take any survey you want, the project has created a social consensus that UFOs
are real. And our role in the plan is carefully crafted. The more the government denies UFOs and aliens, the more people believe
it to be true. That is the first step: acceptance of alien life in the universe and the second step is guidance during conflict
and crisis. When the Clast invade, it will be a matter of trusting the Government to tell the people who the enemy is.”
“This is absolutely
incredible.” And it was- Connelly was genuinely impressed and shocked. “The very government they know to have
lied to them will be the primary source of truth. Instead of weakening government during the Event Horizon, you have strengthened
it. That’s Nobel Prize worthy, truly amazing. What other things have you done?”
“As you know, Mormons don’t
use tobacco.” Jarvis let himself enjoy this mentor role. “Along with a good health craze that we started, we worked
for many years to expose the tobacco industry. Since the moral breakdown in the nineteen sixties, we have been slowly building
a more conservative society. People now want to live better and they see the rational evidence of having a moral life. Aids
and abstinence have given people pause and made them evaluate their lives. Wars and rumors of war cause people to seek out
God. All of these factors are designed to push people to their knees and find God.”
“So the LDS church is not participating
in this plan?” Connelly asked innocently.
“No. They would never agree to it. But out of necessity, it must be done. If our freedom
is to be preserved then we must shape our society to survive the impending conflict. The project must continue. It’s
bigger than you and even bigger than me. The Event Horizon will occur. The question is: will we be prepared?”
