The Conversion Conspiracy is
a thriller about a college student who is pursued by sinister forces after he uncovers a conspiracy to use Mormons in preparing
Earth for acceptance of religious extraterrestrials.
What would happen to our economy, our political system and organized religion if extraterrestrial life came to
Earth?
If you knew the answers to these
questions, and you knew they were coming, what would you do about it?
Connelly Anders, a graduate sociology student, discovers
classified research documents that predict the collapse of our economy, political system, social order, and organized religion
if extraterrestrial contact became public knowledge. Connelly links the research both to a covert operation in Mexico
that studies cultural reaction to UFOs and to a curious reference about the resilience of the Mormon religion if alien contact
is made. James Jarvis, the embattled director of the secret government project, code named Rubicon, tracks Connelly
to Mexico and Utah. Jarvis intimidates Connelly by forcing
his pregnant wife off the road, threatening his friends, and killing their informant. Bargaining for his life, Connelly tricks
Jarvis into incriminating himself and later escapes Jarvis and his agents, leading them on a car chase through downtown DC
to the chapel doors of a Mormon church. Jarvis is confronted by a powerful Utah senator who has
Connelly’s digital recording. He is arrested by the FBI. Connelly, left to weigh the measure of the conspiracy, and
has to decide if he will keep the secret.
Though fiction, The Conversion Conspiracy has its roots in Mormon mythology. Like books and
movies that exploit the murky history and mysticism of Catholicism, this book reveals obscure folk stories from Mormon culture
that become the centerpiece of the plot. A student of Mormon theology for more than fifteen years, I have successfully used
Mormon mythology as a plot structure in my first book, Clan of Cain: The Genesis of Bigfoot. Because these stories
are not well known, the book is fresh and unpredictable.
